Majestic scenery of Alps over flower garden

Vast flower gardens were extending in front of us. Over the deep valleys ahead, we could appreciate the majestic mountains of Alps covered with white and icy colored snow. These sceneries remind me of the setting of the story for infants, gHeidi, a girl in Alpsh.

We were walking along a tiny road of a mountain that was more than 2000meters high above sea level. The flowers blooming at the feet of the visitors were too many kinds and colors. We estimated there were more than 100 species. They were red, pink, yellow, crimson and many other colors. Each of the flowers was blooming, appearing to appeal her utmost existence during a short summer time that has come after a long cold season.

The earth we were standing on had been covered with snow for a long time and with the arrival of summer, the color of the earth has turned to black, absorbing heat from sunlight. Flowers might be absorbing water from moist earth. We could also see some small rivers flowing down from snow covered valleys above.

We could, also, from our vintage point, appreciate high mountains of the Alps, crossing over the deep valley. The pinnacles of these mountains were more than 4000 meters above sea level. The sky over the Alps looked a lot higher than the one we saw from the plains. The color of the sky was a deeper blue. The snow on the mountains looked slightly blue in addition to white, as if they were being dyed by the blue sky. In some of the valleys we could witness a large glacier that had been formed probably more than several hundred million years ago and has kept its shape almost unchanged until now.

We could see the top of Eiger, Monch, Jungfrau and other mountains. Eiger is one of the most noted mountains in Switzerland. It is 3975 meters high above sea level. Its north rocky wall is 1800 meters in height and it is known to be one of the most difficult climb up to reach the top. Many alpinists have taken the challenge until now and not a few alpinists have lost their lives in their journey.

In these days, however, tourists can ascend to half way up of a mountain that is more than 2000 meters high above sea level from Grindelwald village, using gondolas pulled by cables. Getting off the gondolas, tourists can take a walk that is an hour long along the tiny road on the side of the mountain surrounded by flowers.

The village, Grindelwald, has about 4000 in population and it has become a base to climb to these mountains. The verandas of the surrounding hotels and houses are decorated with planted for the visitors to enjoy.

Honestly, this is one of the most beautiful scenic villages in Switzerland, a country for tourists.

Crossing over a valley, visitors can appreciate a majestic view of the Alps of 4000 meters high above sea level, from a hill around 2000 meters high covered with abundant flowers

A beautiful small lake filled with water from melted snow is located at the level of 2265 meters. The surface of the water reflects the majestic image of the mountains and clouds floating in the sky.

An icy glacier deeply edged about several hundred
million years ago has kept its image even until now.

Clouds are floating in the blue sky. There are abundant flowers under onefs  feet. Walking along the hill, more than 2000 meters high above sea level, looking over the Alps more than 4000meters high, will become one of the most memorable time of onefs life.

The water that flows out from snow covered valley in summer season is so pure and too cold to touch.

The weather in mountains changes suddenly even on a fine day.
There came a thin cloud and covered the valley but soon disappeared.

A rest station located at the hill above 2000 meters high above sea level serves also as a very nice observation deck.

How high up the paraglider flies!  What kind of scenery would he see looking down?

Switzerland is a county that breeds cattle. We encountered a lot of ox even at the high mountains.

Views from Grindelwald

Grindelwald is compared to Kamikochi in Japan. The village has sister city relationship with Kamikochi.

@The Grindelwald station of the railroad for alpinists. More than one million tourists visit here every year. Many visitors are Japanese.

The veranda of hotels and houses are decollated with planted flowers and the village is turning into a very scenic place.

The village just at the foot of the north rocky wall of Eiger. This image reminds us of the setting of the story for infants, gHeidi, a girl in Alpsh.

The top of the Eiger was changing its color, minutes by minutes,
from sunrise early morning, from dark to a light pink.
